Who is the SCRUM workshop in English for?
Audience: people at B1+ language level and above who work or plan to work in agile organisations, as Scrum Masters and Agile Coaches.
Class format:
The workshop is conducted online via Zoom by language trainers who have the relevant know-how and experience working in international teams.
The class is conducted in an interactive format, using a variety of tools such as:
- Multimedia presentations
- Pair discussions
- Group discussions
- Business games and scenarios
- Refresher exercises supported by AI
Classes run 6:00 a.m.–10:00 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8:00 a.m.–8:00 p.m. at weekends.
Recommended group size: up to 6 people.
Course content
Proposed workshop scope English for Agile Coaches and Scrum Masters:

- Starting meetings effectively using sequential expressions, idiomatic expressions and informal business language. Starting the workshop and introducing yourself to participants. Asking participants to introducethemselves to the group.
- Presenting the agenda and objectives of the meeting/workshop and practising consistent transitions between workshop steps.
- Responding to participants’ comments and paying attention in a diplomatic, assertive and effective manner.
- Resolving problems raised by participants, dealing with someone interrupting our speech.
- Email etiquette – how to write coherent and professional messages.
- Expressing agreement and disagreement with something/with someone.
- Backlog and backlog grooming – a case study using idiomatic expressions and informal business language.
- Communicating the need for change, i.e. how to incorporate assertiveness into polite communication in informal business language and enhance the linguistic value of the message with idiomatic expressions.
- Suggesting and recommending – reinforcing grammatical correctness with modal verbs, including in exercises containing idiomatic expressions and informal business language.
- Drawing conclusions and summarisingin role plays using idiomatic expressions and informal business language.
- The working environment of an agile coach and scrum master,
- Collaborating with developers – improving soft skills in the spirit of non-violent communication in English using idiomatic expressions and informal business language.
- Trends in agile and scrum – discussion on the basis of authentic materials (interviews, infographics), expression of opinions and objections, exercises using idiomatic expressions and informal business language
- Measuring progress (progress metrics) – velocity, capacity, burndown/ burnup charts, description of charts, compilation of data using idiomatic expressions and informal business language.
- How to convince in agile and/or scrum – strengthening argumentation skills in English, use of idiomatic expressions and informal business language.
