Course content
- Start: welcome and short self-presentation, use of idiomatic expressions and informal business language; discussion of rules for creating slides (one-pager), i.e. how to convey information on one slide.
- Presentation of the topic of the meeting: presentation of the agenda, proposal of rules for the meeting using expressions for logical sequences, idiomatic expressions and informal business language.
- Schedule, budget, deadline – expanding vocabulary with phraseological compounds based on common business topics.
- Troubleshooting – role plays with suggested expressions for solving technical or interpersonal problems (e.g. interrupting) using idiomatic expressions and informal business language.
- Signposting, i.e. where we are and where we are going – developing the ability to present efficiently and hold the audience’s attention using idiomatic expressions and informal business language.
- STAR – presentations following the STAR method. Exercises using suggested English idiomatic expressions in business style.
- Formal and informal presentations – practical use of formal and informal idiomatic expressions, formal and informal grammatical forms and business style.
- Discussing cause and effect – role plays with suggested idiomatic expressions in informal business language.
- Discussing figures and statistics – extending vocabulary in practical exercises using graphs and infographics, exercises using idiomatic expressions and informal business language.
- Drawing conclusions and summarising in role plays and concluding the meeting, exercises using idiomatic expressions and informal business language
